PRIVATE SORROW movie review (Salone movies to the world)

Despite the deep effects of covid 19 scourge, Sierra Leonean film makers are tirelessly working to showcase their God given talents.
Private Sorrow is just one of those few movies one cannot absolutely get bored watching. The movie itself has a perfect storyline that tells the story of romantic lovers who are doing everything possible to gain matrimony despite the obstacles posed by their parents due to family differences. The lovers stood their grounds to prove the old saying that “what God has put together, no man shall put apart”.
The choice of the leading characters was unique as they did everything possible to master what was required of them by the Director. Patricia Rose Tucker who played the role of Manjia was flawless in interpreting her role. She managed to maintain her composure and diction to give out her very best. Abdul Karim Turay who played the role of Prince Jibao didn’t surprise me at all. He had always proven to be a talented Actor although underrated. As the prince and heir apparent to the throne, he was ready to reject the throne for a woman he loved so much. He had to challenge his father’s authority to satisfy the heart of a woman. His delivery is envious and he has the voice to get his audience glue to the screen.
Of course the supporting characters were very amazing. Michael Sawaneh who rolled as the King was superb.

It was a delight seeing his performance and how he strived to put forward his character. As one of the best actors in the country, he proved beyond limits how wonderful he could be in interpreting his roles. Another creative actor that beats my imagination is Abubakarr Bar. He is just one of the few I would love to be seen on screen. Both the two actors did extremely well as rivals whose enmity was extended to their children. What is amazing about these two characters is that none was ready to be defeated in their characters which urged them to employ their best of performance.
The Director Sibbie Alpha Sibbie showed his creativity in this film supplemented by the DP and editor (Supish concept). The sound selection and picture quality all together made this movie a 7/10 rating.

Salone movie on global migration film festival

Near But Faraway is the first Sierra Leonean movie to be selected in the Global Migration Film Festival organised by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), United Nation Organisation. This movie starred Sierra Leone finest Actor Kerry D. Barry (Ramadan) and Sierra Leone fastest growing Actor Zachariah Lloyd Sesay (Lloyd Zachy). The film is created by Humanitarian Association of Artist Advocacy Network Domain Africa (H.A.A.A.N.D. Africa) a non profit organisation that uses creative and performing arts to discourage social vices and promote the virtues.

The movie Near But Faraway is about two friends, J. Kabbah and his Friend Morri who took a loan to pay for a job in Guinea. Realizing that they have been duped and decieved having arrived in Guinea, J. Kabba and Morri faced with more ordeal as other migrants steal their back packs, which leaves them with no choice but to seek help from the International Organization for Migration in Guinea after staying for six months.

This short film project is created mainly to highlight some negative unprecedented repercussions to young people that embark on irregular migration and to discourage them from that. And to also be mindful of deception in the quest to seek a better life on other countries.
